In a terse statement directed at Rahm Emanuel, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi laid down the rules for her 110th Congress, saying she is not going to allow Obama to "triangulate" her. Evidently, the no-nonsense Pelosi isn't taking any chances, as she seeks to pre-empt any possibility of being usurped of her bigga-boss stature on Capitol Hill, by the new upstart on the block, Barack Obama.
Pelosi surprised everyone in Washington with the subtle fury of her warning. She set her parameters for what she wants from Obama and his White House staff —no surprises, and no back-door efforts to go around her and other Democratic leaders by cutting deals with moderate democrats, or conservative Blue Dogs. She specifically warned Emanuel that she wants to know everything his boss (Obama) is up to...or else!
Yup. No matter who you are in D.C., there's to be no tip-toeing around godmother Pelosi, lest the mob get its revenge.
Specifically, the regal Pelosi mandated that Emanuel always is to inform her of whenever representatives of the incoming administration have any contact with her rank-and-file Democrats...and why. The godmother, taking a page from "GODFATHER part II", has decided to follow the wisdom of Don Corleone Sr...."keep your friends close, but your enemies closer."
Normally the honeymoon stage of a Presidency is the first 100 days. But as Obama continues to prematurely 'don' the mantle of the Presidency, the honeymoon period has kicked in fast and furious by the media and the public. So is it shaping up to be a future mob war in Washington, between don Barack Obama vs godmother Pelosi? Stay tuned until after January 20!
But this initial power struggle was inevitable: no matter how much goodwill there is at the start of a new administration, there are always battles over policy and legislative priorities between the White House and Congress. And Pelosi seeks to take advantage of the almost complete liberal hold on power in the three branches. And the Iron Maiden of Capitol Hill is not about to blow this rarefied opportunity to ram through her leftist agenda, because she knows 2-4 years may not be enough time to get everything done. So she has no time to waste, and will not tolerate opposition.
Pelosi, in warning that "she won't allow Obama to triangulate her", is reflective of two personal traits: 1) she is the ultimate control freak, (or out-of-control freak); 2) she has a working backround in geometry.
Yes; probably not since the late Saddam Hussein, has there existed a more radical political control freak in our lifetimes than nazi Pelosi. In the brief time she's been Speaker of the House, she's literally eclipsed everyone in D.C. in raw political power. There are no checks and balances in the Constitution regarding the House speaker; and Nancy-dearest knows it.
Pelosi is second in line for President, but has wielded her authority with the ruthlessness of a banana republic dictator. She knows the rules of the House intimately. She sets the entire legislative agenda. She can bury any bill, no matter how important to the country. And with her subservient Democratic majority, she can pass ANY new legislation to suit her intentions. If Our Founding Fathers were around today, they may have re-written the Constitution.
Ever since Pelosi ascended the Speaker's podium, the opening bang of her gavel has signaled the onset of gulag rule on the House floor. She constantly has had the Republicans cowering in abeyance to her every Machiavellian-like maneuver. The only set principle she seems to have is, "to have no principles". She watches her enemies with cunning and moves accordingly, as Machiavelli professed. She's ready at all times to change her strategies and tactics.
And not since Gavrilo Princep assassinated Archduke Ferdinand in 1914, and ignited World War I, has any SINGLE individual had a more apocalyptic effect on western history than the iron-willed and conniving first female Speaker of the House, Nazi Pelosi. And this is no exaggeration!
EXAMPLE: let's analyze in detail just what has taken place in the world ever since January 3, 2007, when Pelosi defeated Republican John Boehner of Ohio in a close election for House Speaker: let's call it the Pelosi domino effect. Higher gas prices commenced in that same month. Commodity traders, (not big oil companies) who set the world price for crude, all went 'long' on oil (bid the price upward), because they knew of her political intentions to block all new U.S. drilling. Now the perfect economic storm had begun --Hurricane Nancy.
After oil prices went above $100/barrel, gas prices rocketed past 3 dollars, and you could almost HEAR the cracking sounds throughout the entire economy. Auto sales collapsed. Retail tanked. Grocery prices and inflation took off. Then, as the price of oil hit $144, gas prices went well above 4 dollars, and it was the breaking point. Now the lay offs began. Unemployment jumped. It didn't take long before people--just barely making their house payments--were now faced with either tapping their 401K, or foreclosure.
The dominos began to fall faster. Foreclosures hit 10,000 a month. The investment banks on Wall Street began to crumble. Large and small commercial banks failed. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were next. Mysteriously-valued 'toxic' mortgage securities were held by everyone. Uncertainty caused panic selling throughout the stock markets around the world. Credit dried up, and all U.S. domestic economic activity slowed down, which in turn, caused the entire financial world to go into recession.
By now, the Dow-Jones had lost 40% of its value; people blamed the republicans for everything; and thus elected Barack Obama. End of story for now, but indeed, more chapters are to be written about the cataclysmic Nancy Pelosi worldwide effect that started it all.
