Selma, Alabama - March 7, 1965: State troopers move on marchers crossing the Edmund Pettus Bridge - provoking the worst incident of violence of the entire Civil Rights era.
At once, Washington moves to overcome Southern legislators' resistance to effective voting rights legislation:
President Johnson issues an emergency call for a"strong voting rights law."
Congressional hearings began. Soon thereafter, a bill emerges that would become the "Voting Rights Act."
Three decades later, a Louisiana election takes place - a mockery of democracy. Its outcome would profoundly shake the nation to its very foundation - an outcome "credited" to ACORN.
ACORN is a political cancer that continues to metastisize. Voter fraud perils the Republic. Corrupt democratic election officials want to count every vote - again, and again, and again.
Recently, in an office building in the New Orleans suburb of Metairie, workers were gathered about the coffee machine - reminiscing about the stolen 1996 election for the U.S. Senate, when Democrat Mary Landrieu "defeated" Republican Louis "Woody" Jenkins:
A brilliant conservative orator serving 25 years in the state Legislature, Jenkins was pitted against far-left challenger Landrieu, in a race for the seat vacated by J. Bennet Johnson (a democrat).
On election day, Jenkins led exit polls 51 to 49. As returns came in, it held until 9:45 PM, when suddenly, a surge of votes from New Orleans saw Landrieu edge slightly ahead.
Final returns showed Landrieu won by only 5,788 out of 1.7 MILLION votes cast - the closest Senate race in America that year, and the closest statewide race in Louisiana history.
Outside New Orleans, Jenkins won the state, prevailing 53% to 47%; but within New Orleans, Landrieu's incredible 100,000-vote margin was just enough to eek out her razor-thin "victory."
But it was all the work of ACORN, who's fingerprints were everywhere:
Throughout election day, there were countless reports of "irregularities." Jenkins had refused concession - loudly demanding the results be investigated.
Predictably, Democratic election officials began stone-walling - defying a federal court order. They denied access to voter registration applications, and other vital documents.
Nevertheless, on Dec. 5 1996, Jenkins filed a US Senate petition, challenging the results. 4000 pages were given to the Senate Rules Committee, documenting massive voter fraud, where democrat machine corruption had been obvious.
But even though Jenkins had cried "foul" immediately afterwards, a Democratic Committee majority pronounced him..."a sore loser"... who needed to "get on with his life;" the request for a Senate investigation denied.
In New Orleans, examples of the rampant vote fraud were unending:
The local media garnered hundreds of reports from witnesses who were offered money (or alcohol) to vote. Democrats had placed voter punch cards throughout all black churches in Louisiana.
On election day, hundreds of vans and buses cruised New Orleans' public housing projects - soliciting persons to "make some money" by going to the polls, then voting multiple times. Democrats were paid anywhere from $10 up to $120, for their votes.
Transcripts of conversations with persons selling their votes in New Orleans - and drivers who paid them - revealed a complex network of democratic operatives, who were paid by county commissioners, with access to large amounts of cash.
"This nice person drove up and asked whether I was registered," one woman said to the lawyers and investigators for Jenkins. "I told him I was, but didn't feel like voting. He said, 'If I paid you, would you go?' I got up from the bus stop bench - dusted off my pants - and got in the car."
The woman, who neither reads nor writes, claimed the man took her to three polling places, where she voted and signed an "X" each time.
That same election day, a 32-year-old mechanic testified he drove a van, "picking up people who proceeded to vote at least ten times, or even more." For his efforts, he received $700.
One woman, who said she voted three times, groused about how much she was paid. "I was supposed to get $75; but all they paid was $25." Added the woman..."they gave me some 'stanky T-shirt' with Landrieu's picture on it."
Throughout that election day, Orleans Parish exit polls showed Jenkins and Landrieu in a virtual deadlock. But at 9:45 p.m.--almost two hours after the polls had closed-- some 70 of New Orleans' 474 precincts had not yet reported their votes.
Outside the city, Jenkins had won by 95,000 votes. Within city limits, however, he was buried by a margin of 100,000.
Over 200 New Orleans city employees had been ordered to campaign for Mayor Marc Morial's "hand-picked candidates" - or be fired. A list of employees was posted in City Hall, directing them to either Clinton or Landrieu headquarters, where they would be given directives.
In certain New Orleans precincts, computer voting-machine tapes had incorrect dates -precincts where Jenkins lost to Landrieu by a margin of NINE to one.
Under Louisiana law, when polls close, voting machines are to be locked: then three days later, re-opened - in full view of the candidates - and their totals reviewed. But an invesigation revealed the Orleans Parish Clerk of Courts - a Landrieu supporter - opened all 677 voting machines outside the presence of the candidates
Democratic Election officials swore the machines had not been tampered with.
In 1994 - as required by federal law - Louisiana had enacted a "Motor Voter" statute, allowing voters to sign up at license bureaus or at welfare and government offices. To protect ballot security, any voter registering by mail - who never before had cast a ballot -would produce a photo ID at the polls.
That seemed reasonable. But in September 1996, the Clinton Administration said "no."
Assistant Attorney General Deval L. Patrick decreed that (quote)..."the provision violated the Voting Rights Act of 1965, because blacks were not as likely as whites to have driver's licenses or other picture IDs."
Hence, under Clinton's decree, officials at Louisiana's polls could no longer request a photo ID to uncover fraud.
Ten months later, a Lake Charles investigative reporter sent 25 bogus voter applications -complete with fake names, addresses and dates of birth - to Louisiana voter registrars. Twenty of the fictitious residents--including one signed "X"--received voter registration cards.
Jenkins's investigators uncovered evidence that of the addresses of 3169 registered voters in New Orleans' public housing projects - considered VACANT by the city- 1380 voted illegally in the election.
One unnamed ACORN worker revealed yet more "company secrets”.
- Among "certain demographic groups," voters got not only rides to the polls, but money for "expenses," a free box lunch, plus a list of "those one should vote for."
- Certain “poll watchers” also got paid, who's job it was to "co-ordinate votes" with the same list. Hence, Landrieu won 85% of Orleans - the final parish to be counted.
- There were a significant number of phantom votes cast: the number of votes tallied on voting machines exceeded the number of voter signatures on the precinct register. Also specific names appearing on poll lists were not found on the lists of registered voters.
Not surprisingly, Clinton's Justice Department - under the initiatives of Duval Patrick- made sure that all legal venues sought by Woody Jenkins would mysteriously run into legal "roadblocks."
Even worse, the overwhelmingly republican Congress left Jenkins hanging! They did NOTHING - a tradition which seems to have carried over to this very day.
Thus, are we not getting the government we deserve? Mary Landrieu, purportedly a moderate democrat, has all along represented the radical left - placed on her Senate throne by ACORN.
How many more elections will ACORN steal?
How many more "one-critical-vote" margins will the Senate maintain, before we realize how a marxist oligarchy of 60, continues to hold sway over 300 million Americans - two thirds of whom OPPOSE what they do!
Meanwhile Landrieu - Harry Reid's high-priced call-girl - has time enough for ACORN to hatch another plot to steal yet ANOTHER election, when she runs in 2014.
ITEM: Landrieu's brother, Mitch, currently, Louisiana's lieutenant governor, will campaign for Mayor of New Orleans in 2010. Hence - like Marc Morial before him – if he wins, Landrieu's 2014 re-election could be a fait accompli.
ITEM: Mary Landrieu - is the daughter of Maurice “Moon” Landrieu, former mayor of New Orleans.
ITEM: The Landrieus are deeply entrenched in Louisiana politics. Mary’s sister, Madeleine, is a Civil District Court Judge who, like most CDC judges, ran unopposed last election.
ITEM: The Landrieu's were germane to the founding of ACORN.
In 1969 Maurice “Moon” Landrieu ran to become mayor of New Orleans. Despite winning but 19% of the total vote (placing second in an initial Democrat primary), Moon somehow "defeated" highly favored opponent Jimmy Fitzmorris in a run-off primary, then went on to win the Mayor’s race in 1970.
Co-incidentally, in 1970, New Orleans native Wade Rathke moves to Arkansas - founding the "Arkansas Community Organization for Reform Now" (ACORN).
But then - viola! ACORN soon becomes headquartered in New Orleans- then right behind follows SIEU. The "A" in ACORN is changed to "association."
Here things become "fuzzy."
Did Rathke have a cryptic connection to a prominent political family of corrupt New Orleans?
Even more mysteriously, who was it that backed Wade Rathke financially, enabling ACORN to spread like cancer throughout the country?
Then twenty six years later, Mary Landrieu - abetted by the SEIU and ACORN - wins her senate seat, setting a pattern which would enable the left to eventually seize control of Congress, using the thuggish tactics of the ACORN playbook.
Mary Landrieu’s sell-out "yes" vote came with a hitch: Hary Reid's promise to funnel campaign money to her brother, to get the "extra ground game" to win the new Orleans Mayorial race - virtually guaranteeing her re-election in 2014.
This the real secret behind Reid's so-called "Louisiana purchase."
So to all you brain-dead republicans out there - ARE YOU PAYING ATTENTION?
Despite polls showing 2-1 voter opposition, is it any wonder that the Senate Democrats have rammed through Obamacare?
Despite polls that show America is a "conservative-center" nation, liberal democrat incumbents keep winning re-election - often by the narrowest margins - yet it never seems to end.
POINT: A federal judge (Clinton appointee) has ruled ACORN's 'defunding' was ruled "unconstitional.' Again, the republicans do NOTHING!
POINT: Michael Steele, Newt Gingrich, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and every other conservative mouthpiece, keep reassuring everyone..."We'll get 'em in 2010!"
POINT: Pollsters and political analysts alike "question" whether incumbent Senate democrats can continue to survive politically.
Stupid fools! Don't the republicans realize that this is EXACTLY what these venal democrats want them to think!
The Republicans foolishly KEEP DISCOUNTING ACORN! Until this surefire blueprint for stealing elections is made illegal, senate democrats will triumph again & again! Do not the republicans perceive the idiocy of their overconfidence? Is it any wonder why these radicals have no fear of their constituents?
Why would democrats vote for something (Obamacare) that is so blatantly unpopular? - are they stupid enough to committ politcal suicide? Liberals are all about control- and never giving it up!
Ask Minnesota's Norm Coleman how he feels about it: ACORN stole away his Senate seat like a thief in the night, while Michael Steele and idiot Tim Pawlenty did NOTHING!
The result? Two more despicable leftists - Franken and Landrieu - enough to empower a runaway leftist Senate - giving them a crucial 60 seat super-majority, moving to enslave us - usuing OUR OWN tax money- and who will probably remain in power again in 2010!
Yet the tea parties and Republicans talk of "sweeping then out of office"
Sure.
ALL politics is LOCAL. Politics is not unlike war; and to the overconfident goes defeat.
One can only wonder how many other Democrat Senators stole seats with extra votes -added at the last minute. The Dems have concocted a perfect plan to steal elections, thus achieving the magical number of 60.
Like 1965, a new federal voting rights act is needed! ACORN cannot go unchallenged!
CHANGE # 1: all statewide voting laws must be made federal (i.e. standardized throughout ALL 50 states).
CHANGE # 2: all voter registrations must be uniform: One registration- picture ID required - and no "same day" register-voting.
CHANGE # 3: absentee ballots must be adressed to a federal voting center in Washington DC - to be counted under supervision of the FBI - who will will arrest anyone showing duplicity.
CHANGE # 4 - the BREAKTHROUGH: trash all paper ballots - trash all the expensive voter machines - thereby eliminating all possiblity of local corruption. The republicans submit a new plan for INTERNET VOTING : computer terminals placed nationwide throughout the local polls, enabling voters to cast ballots- who receive a special voter "password," that can be used only ONCE.
a) it would trap the democrats: how could they oppose such a measure to assure intregrity in the upcoming 2010 election?
b) ACORN would be powerless to submit fraudulent votes, or multiple votes from a single person
c) the public would overwhelmingly support such a measure; and the House and Senate majorities in Congress would be virtually powerless to oppose it.
Like the IRS in charge of tax-collections, why not a governent agency - in charge of nationwide voting - with authority to punish those who dare to attempt voter fraud. This is one time when expanding the federal government's power would be an asset.
Until elections are controlled, and politicians (like Landrieu and the rest of the corrupto-crats) are thrown out of office, we will continue to march headlong towards one party rule, and the tyranny of the left.
And if the hydra-headed monster of ACORN cannot be slain, the Republicans could be left wandering in the political desert for another 40 years.
