Ho-ho-ho! Obama's giant green energy folly

Ta da! Great news on the "green energy" homefront. Barack Obama wants to make America the Saudi Arabia of battery producers!

Recently, he announced his goal aimed at turning the U.S. into a "battery-manufacturing powerhouse" exclaiming...(quote) "Battery-powered, plug-in cars are Detroit's future, and will be instrumental in saving and creating jobs in the auto industry."

And now that Obama has said the word "Batteries," there has been a virtual stampede:

The U.S. Department of Energy has been accepting a blizzard of applications for $2.4 billion in funding, with the objective of creating new incentives for building "renewable energy" vehicles.

Companies vying for the federal money include GM, Dow Chemical, Johnson Controls, and A-123 Systems-- a battery-maker subsidiary of GE. States such as Michigan, Kentucky and Massachusetts are also weighing in with applications.

In a classic case of putting the cart before the horse, Obama is offering billions in government 'carrots' to encourage private industry to set up battery plants in rust-belt areas, and bribing everyone into going along with Washington's green energy "auto revolution."

But not so fast there, Mr. Obama:

As the old saying goes; you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink-- or think.

Does our humble President actually think Americans are going to scrap their beloved, gasoline- powered vehicles, just because he says so? We shall see.

Obama, the Green Lantern master-salesman of the electric car boondoggle, is packaging the idea as some high-tech, great leap into the future, and a viable solution to the "dirty," fossil fuel, pollution-spewing machines that we all drive today.

Mr.Obama paints such a pretty picture about electric cars-- just plug 'em in and GO!

But stop and think for a minute; just like you plug in your cell phone at night to re-charge, just how advanced are electric cars ?

Alexander Volta, the great physicist, was born in Como, Italy on February 17, 1745 ; and after returning from a scientific conference in Vienna in 1799, he came up with an idea, and designed the first battery-- and little has changed since.

That's right; the futuristic, high-tech electric car that Obama is touting is based on 18th century technology that remains stuck in time. No matter the source of the power carrier-- lead, nickel, or lithium -- it's still just a battery.

And electric powered cars -- a bunch of batteries "lashed" together-- are nothing more than golf carts designed for road duty.

These so-called green electric cars of the future will create far more problems than they solve, and will be an anathema to the lifestyle Americans have come to love over the last 95 years:

POINT- you can't just get into your electric car and take-off for the hinterlands. No matter how hard the engineers try, a battery is a battery-- it can only deliver power for so long (40 miles), and then you run out of juice.

POINT- electric cars are dangerous. They run silent, posing a threat to pedestrians, runners, the sight-impaired, and cyclists .They really need an outside speaker (or something) blaring fake engine noise, just so that people can hear them coming.

POINT- electric cars are structural lightweights. If you get T-boned at an intersection, you'll be headed for the cemetery instead of the emergency room.

Or how about if you get stuck in a winter blizzard on the way home from work? You can literally spin your wheels until you become frostbitten. If the battery goes dead, so might you if the temperature is below zero.

And how about the other inconveniences of winter? Your teeth will chatter while scraping the ice off the inside of the car windows, because to make a powerful enough heater/defroster, it would flatten the battery charge and reduce its limited range even more.

POINT- electric cars have scant room. You can't keep a golf bag in the trunk, or expect to go to the grocery with the kids on weekends. Baby sitters become mandatory for large families on certain days.

POINT- once your batteries become low, and you come to a steep hill, the electric car becomes the little engine that couldn't .You'll need to take a detour.

POINT- electric cars are not a boon against pollution. With every one shouting about hybrids and pure electric cars, let's not forget where the electricity comes from: fossil fuels; and most likely from a coal-generated power station, which coughs out thousands of tons of so-called "poisonous Co2."

POINT- if everyone does switch to an electric car, it would be like going backwards--a vehicle that travels only 40 miles, yet takes 8 hours to re-charge. The equivalent load of an plugged-in electric car is similar to that of running your dishwasher or air conditioner for 8 hours at peak rate.

Picture the nice surprise when you get your electric bill: That **&^%#$!* Obama!  I knew I shouldn't have listened to him about his stupid environmental subsidy, and got rid of my old car! This battery-powered thing is *%^$#@!!**

Any driver who falls prey to the beguiling Obama subsidy, will soon discover the fun of owning an electric car for themselves. Not only do they take ages to charge up, not only do they not go very far-- they don't go VERY FAST. So when you're trying to merge with a giant semi-tractor-trailer onto a busy interstate, get out your St. Christopher medal-- you're gonna need lots of luck.

POINT- The "NIMBY" factor: We need to be aware that as people begin to use up all these batteries, they will begin to pile up in someone's backyard. Remember Love Canal? It'll be toxic waste galore. "Superfund cleanup", anyone?

POINT- there is another problem with electric cars... the price. These death-boxes are incredibly expensive! Obama will need untold billions in federal subsidies to bribe Americans into these ugly, little monstrosities.

POINT- electric cars are the classic chicken- egg conundrum. At the present, there’s nowhere to re-charge these things. Hence, no charge points makes ownership impractical, while no electric cars makes it uneconomic to build charge points.

Has Mr. Obama given much though to that? Apparently not. How can something that has to be constantly plugged in, be described as convenient? It can't! Electic cars will shock Americans back to reality; they'll rue the very day they ever decided to drive one.

POINT- after traveling 40 miles (easily done in less than 1-2 hours), it will necessitate having a second, GASOLINE car in the driveway for most drivers; one for commuting, and one for "other" days.

SUMMARY:  Electric cars are too small, too underpowered, and too expensive. Americans today are "large" people; they need something that they can get themselves (and the family) into.

So no matter how much the media, Obama, the environmentalists, the politicians (or whomever) tout them, Americans will reject electric cars in droves; and like the Cubans, they'll hang onto their old cars until they literally fall apart-- effectively killing this "new" industry before it even gets started.

Used car dealers, repair shops, auto-parts stores, etc: prepare for a bright future in the new era of green-energy Obamanomics.

CONCLUSION--unless someone works out a cheap, clean, and very fast-charging battery technology that allows drivers to use filling stations exactly as its done now, switching to electric cars will pose too great of an economic & cultural hurdle-- and 95% of Americans will be unwilling to take the leap.

For the government to throw so much money into such an outlandish, ill-considered scheme (intended to overturn an entire existing infrastructure) shows that Obama is either blatantly obtuse, or is out to overthrow our conventional auto industry for his "Giant Green" energy folly.

Blowhard politics? Odds for America's green energy revolution--about one in a million!

Go ahead...pick a number...any number-- as long as it's over a million.

Nowadays-- no matter where you turn-- we're being inundated with an unending parade of politicians, TV-radio spots, news broadcasts, talk show interviews, etc., all trumpeting the same, grandiose promises of the so-called green energy revolution ..."It will create millions of new green energy jobs, and reduce our dependency on foreign oil!"

Ho hum (yawn).

Whenever any liberal politician talks about our new green-energy economy, it's become de rigueur to "hyperbolate" about the unlimited millions of new jobs at hand, once we switch to renewable energy sources. Examples abound:

Barack Obama  promises..."We're going to create 5 million new green energy jobs that cannot be outsourced!"

Governor Ed Rendell of Pennsylvania... "We're going to create hundreds of thousands of new jobs with clean green energy..."

Ohio Governor Ted Strickland..."Renewable energy can create millions of new green jobs."

Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm..."A transition to a green economy will create millions of new green jobs and will reduce our dependency on foreign oil."

Henry Waxman of the Energy and Commerce Committee, and Chairman Edward Markey of the Energy and Environment Subcommittee..."Our clean energy legislation will create jobs, help end our dangerous dependence on foreign oil, and combat global warming."

U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen, in her speech at the New Hampshire Forum on the Future..."Millions of new jobs will be created in alternative energy, and energy efficiency."

Senator Barbara Boxer (D-Cal)... "Green energy means green jobs..."President Obama's new auto mileage CAFE standards are one big step toward creating up to five million new green jobs, and will fuel long-term economic development."

Even England's Gordon Brown is jumping on the bandwagon: (quote) "The president and I share the conviction that green technologies will be a major driver of our future economic growth, and we can create millions of green-collar jobs in the world for the future.”

Whew...that's mighty impressive-- add 'em up: So far, we've totaled at least 30 million new green energy jobs, have virtually eliminated our dependency on foreign oil, and we're still counting!

But before we all go hoarse cheering, who was it that said..."There's a sucker born every minute?"

Calling P.T. Barnum; we're being suckered by both the press and these self-serving politicians, who know nothing about science; know nothing about the hard realities of economics, and ignore the fact that less than 4% of U.S energy is currently generated by "renewables."

These untold millions of green energy jobs-- that promise to combat atmospheric "climate change"-- are little more than pie in the sky.

EXAMPLE: Our blowhard politicians omit one grossly inconvenient truth: the failure to consider the millions of  jobs LOST due to the massive changes they espouse for the U.S. economy.

Legislation requiring a shift from fossil fuels displaces jobs at coal mines, oil fields, refineries, power plants (plus their support industries), and will do little other than sentencing millions of ex energy workers to the unemployment lines.

But not to worry-- they'll be replacement jobs aplenty.

The green energy revolution will spark a boom in "administrative services"-- huge increases in trial lawyers, government regulators & administrators, not to mention the ballooning staffs the EPA will require to enforce these preposterous measures.

But for now, the political momentum appears unstoppable. A prime example of the green energy mania can be found in the Keystone state-- Pennsylvania:

Democratic Gov. Ed Rendell, is raising taxes and spending more than $2 billion on clean, green energy investments; and of course, this includes the standard obligatory promise to create hundreds of thousands of new "green" jobs.

Thus far, Rendell's efforts have been an abject failure.

His first $1 billion of green energy "investments" created a whopping  3,500 new jobs; a cost to taxpayers of a mere $285,000 per job-- a shining model of efficiency.

Rendell won't be in line for the Nobel Prize in economics anytime soon.

And if one were to extrapolate the data  from Pennsylvania, it would cost the federal government more than $1.1 TRILLION to replace the estimated 3-4 million conventional energy jobs, destroyed by a nationwide push to renewables.

Aside Pennsylvania, another voice shouting in the wind comes from yet another brilliant democrat, Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland...(quote) "Wind turbines  and other renewable sources are not only a less-polluting means of diversifying the state's energy sources, but also, as a job-development tool."

Governor Insanity (er, Strickland) wants to make the Ohio Turnpike an "advanced energy corridor", using state land to site wind turbines and other renewable energy technologies.

And if state legislators allow Strickland to get his way, Ohio will soon see dozens of giant, hideous windmills sprouting up offshore in Lake Erie .

Turn baby, turn... this is fabulous news! Stricklands "advanced" land /lake energy corridor will be based on the 500 year-old, 16th century technology of windmills.

Picture it now it now... driving along the scenic Ohio Turnpike...dodging thousands of dead birds, slaughtered by the whirring 40 foot diameter of  windturbine  blades. ODOT (Ohio Dept. of Transportation) will indeed experience a job boom in roadway cleanup crews hired.

And out in pristine Lake Erie, consider the dilemma of the "pleasure" boaters, who now have to dodge hundreds of anti-scenic, offshore wind turbine installations, most of which will remain calm on the numerous wind-free days that are typical of northern Ohio weather.

So who was it that said..."look before you leap?"

As America rushes intrepidly into the renewable energy era (and attempts to clean-up the atmosphere) what becomes of the effort if the large developing nations, like China and India, refuse take the same dramatic steps-- something they're unlikely to do.

China recently surpassed the U.S. to become the world's number-one emitter of CO2; and India is fast coming up to supplant the United States as number two.

If the goal of our actions is to prevent global warming, then to what end? No matter what the U.S. and the western countries may do to restrict emissions, China's carbon dioxide output is on track to double (or possibly treble) during the next decade,

So basically, the money the U.S. government spends on renewables will serve no other purpose than to subsidize the Chinese economy, and concomitantly penalize our own.

Attention Al Gore-- here's the BIGGEST inconvenient truth-- why spend billions to restict CO 2 emissions in the U.S. when it's a scientific fact that all of China's (and India's) rapidly-increasing CO2 output all eventually mixes within the upper atmosphere anyway?

Short of building a gigantic, green energy bubble over each one of these "offending" countries, all U.S. environmental efforts will be for naught.

Unlike our liberal, coconut-head politicians in Congress, China recognizes the undeniable indications from around the globe-- green energy literally does not pay.

Evidence from Spain and Germany (and other countries that have attempted to fast-track growth in their green-energy sectors) reveals that such policies often destroy more jobs in other industries than they actually create, and have done virtually nothing to reduce atmospheric CO2.

And in reality-- after the U.S. plunges headlong into this climatological fools' errand-- how much global warming are we really avoiding? How many conventional jobs are lost as we destroy our economy in a futile attempt to remake it?

But repeating mistakes has long been a storied part of Washington's misguided energy policies of the past.

Unlike China, the U.S. will spend untold billions on windmills, solar panels, biodiesel, ethanol, switchgrass, refined cooking grease, and every other boondoogle these radical environmental extremists in Congress attempt to legislate down our throats.

But fifty years from now, the U.S. will still be using fossil fuels; the internal combustion engine will have survived America's foolhardy rush to electric cars; and those blowhard, windmill-touting politicians will have eaten their words.

The law of economics cannot be repealed. Sooner rather than later, the green energy bubble is bound to burst, and America will return to its former sanity.

Or so we hope.

America hanging in suspense, waiting for those 5 million new jobs

America, land of the green?

Recall those glory days of Barack Obama, and his highlights from last year's presidential campaign: (Quote) "We will create 5 million new green collar jobs in America... jobs that cannot be outsourced."

This was ALWAYS Mr. Obama's big applause line... 5 MILLION new jobs!

But as of now, how are we doing on all those new "green collar" jobs? Did we hit 5 million yet? Was Mr. Obama promising a boom in the renewable energy sector, or was he actually signaling a recovery in the shirt-manufacturing business?

Evidently, this has yet to be determined.

On the campaign trail, Mr. Obama argued that spending $150 billion over the next decade to boost energy efficiency would create those five million jobs; but so far, we seem to be coming up about 4,950,000 short.

But we're on our way.

True, Mr. Obama's green-jobs argument rests on what sounds like a rather solid hypothesis: big capital investments in renewable-energy technology today will be more than offset by savings in RISING fossil-fuel costs, thus creating the economic boom to pull the U.S. out of recession.

But all that changed last winter, when oil prices dropped precipitously, and a mega-whopper natural gas discovery in Texas caused energy prices to drop from last summer's record highs.

So now, venture capitalists on both the West Coast and Wall Street are backing off on funding, leaving wind turbine and solar entrepreneurs wondering if the next few years will feel less like a boom, and more like the dreadful days following the dot-com bust.

During the first quarter of 2009, venture cap investment in green technologies literally shriveled up-- only $154 million-a drop of 84 percent from the last quarter of 2008, when, despite the crumbling economy, investments hit nearly $1 billion

Cancel those green-collared shirts...has the 'green bubble' burst?

Obama’s "hype cycle" — that a green-tech investment could do no wrong--- sparked a lemming mentality: the promise of big returns prompted a boom in “me-too investing,” when venture capitalists funded start-ups that all do the same basic work.

So many businesses are now geared up to make solar panels and windmills, that they all forgot one little thing-- the basic law of supply and demand-- creating a huge supply without concomitant demand equals glut... the economic bust cycle.

Now, not only is the availability of "green" private venture capital running dry, the other side of the coin is the availability of human capital. THIS could be the real limiting factor to the Obama green-job bonanza --it may never get here.

America was once the world leader in science and engineering; but that was long before the dumbing-down of our nation's educational system, and the rise of the current "Duh Generation."

Today’s 'Duh Generation' students feel school is for being cool, and showing off that new camera-phone or designer jeans. So not only are the three R's a challenge, most American students denigrate science and math, viewing such disciplines as being only for 'geeks.'

And with the woeful number of U.S. college grads who have science or math degrees (only 6% major in engineering), how Mr. Obama can achieve five million renewable energy jobs-- all requiring engineers, scientists, and mathematicians-- will need a miracle, given the lack of qualified American science and math teachers at all levels.

And what about Obama’s claim of jobs that "cannot be outsourced?"

Due to our drastic domestic shortage, we would need to import thousands of foreign engineers, mathematicians and scientists -- blowing Obama's claim sky high.

But President Obama shall not be deterred:

He boldly wants America to go where we have not ventured before, vowing that his vision of a renewable-energy revolution is here and now, and it will transform our lives in so many magical ways...end global warming...calm the oceans, and roll back the rise in the seas.

Obama's unwavering promise--for an all-out push to green energy-- omits one undeniable fact: demand for renewables not only RISES with the price of oil, it also goes DOWN with it, too. And just as Jimmy Carter failed to accomplish his grandiose national vision for synthetic fuels in the late 70's, Obama’s green energy wet dream will quickly dry up unless he too, comes back to earth.

Phasing in new energy sources on a national scale takes a consistent effort over DECADES-- something that, so far, hasn't happened in America, the biggest oil-consuming country in the world.

Creating reliable energy from weather-based technologies-- fuels as fickle as sunlight or wind-- is difficult.

And doing so without predictable economic need, and prolonged help from Wall Street, is all but impossible.

Coming soon to a factory near you...the Waxman-Markey anti-stimulus

Pssst...wanna hear a good one? Henry Waxman (the California ultra-leftist House democrat) has stated that his new climate bill WON'T harm the U.S. economy.

Can this environmental noodlehead actually be serious?

Waxman is the type of guy who stays up late thinking of new leftist ideas to force down our throats-- his dream for an ecological nirvana-- but it's a nightmare.

Yes indeed, the benevolent Henry Waxman, who claims his bill won't hurt the economy. It's like pretending cancer is harmless. Waxman's big lie of lies is nothing more than economic carcinoma in its most virulent form, because it will metastisize insidiously from one industry to another.

And now, we must introduce his partner in crime, Edward Markey (D-Massachusetts), another leftist radical who--as chairman of the House Subcommittee on Energy &  Environment-- has been a one-man wrecking-crew to block drilling leases in Alaska in order to "save" the pristine habitat.

This lunatic claims that the current estimate of 30,00 polar bears are grounds enough to block oil exploration to avoid their extinction; so don't dare try to tell good ol' Ed that there ain't no global warming--no sir-ee--because he's having none of it.

Waxman and Markey are the Laurel & Hardy of environmentalism-- out to pass their clean air bill-- then sit back and watch it slowly leach the lifeblood out of every manufacturer, energy producer, farmer, and you guessed it...everyone else who uses energy-- all because of non-existent global warming.

And God save America if this bill passes! The cost of living, the cost of driving, and the cost of doing business for almost everyone-- all will literally go sky-high in the next decade-- or even sooner.

Their legislation requires that CO2 emissions be reduced 20 percent by the year 2020, and that all greenhouse gases be reduced by 80 percent by 2050.

That's right-- EIGHTY PERCENT!

And once our leftist Congress passes this travesty, we can expect to see life change precipitously for the worse (thanks to these two fascist fools) because it will virtually outlaw the internal combustion engine in the next decade, if "compliance" is to be reached.

We'll be forced to drive "green" cars. We can kiss goodbye to our power lawnmowers, snow-blowers and leaf-blowers. And wait till we open up our utility bills in a few years.

The Waxman- Markey clean air bill will suck so much disposable income from the average American (estimated at $3000 annually per household) that our consumer-driven economy may all but collapse under this final death blow.

And Waxman- Markey won't stop there, not by a long-shot.

This law will force us to adopt the green energy source of the future: windmills-- yes windmills-- a 16th-century, weather-dependent "technology," and forsake reliable, dependable coal-power, which generates almost 60% of our nation's electricity-- and provides it cheaply.

So think about all the coal miners that will be put out of work; think about all the steel workers and the rest of the heavy industry workers that will be forced out of their livelihoods for so-called environmental reasons, while the congressional aristocracy will continue to fly around in their privately-chartered, CO2--emitting jets, and be chauffeured around Washington sitting in the back seats of huge, gasoline-powered limousines.

Meanwhile, the Chinese will be the ones to benefit as our heavy industries either close down, or move overseas to greener pastures. This bill will only serve to indirectly subsidize our foreign competitors who could care less about green energy, and will continue to power their economies with dependable coal and fossil fuels.

But what about all the fun of driving the green cars of the future? It'll be bye-bye gasoline, and hello to battery power-- another "technological" breakthrough that was invented by Alessandro Volta in the year 1800.

And say "so long" to your sports car, "hasta-lavista" to your work truck; and bid "adios" to your SUV. The Waxman-Markey bill will eventually legislate them out of existence, much like the EPA did to Detroit's flourishing muscle car industry in the early 70's.

And to add insult to injury, the Obama administration is calling this--believe it or not-- a jobs bill--youch!

Not only will it grievously wound the private sector and drive millions of people to their local unemployment offices, just picture all the new "energy-police" positions that'll be created as an offshoot of this horrid legislation.

They'll be "energy inspectors" going everywhere, checking for "compliance." It will create an entire new layer of government workers-- a green energy Gestapo-- whose sole task will be the harassment and condemnation of any company (or any household) who refuses to comply--complete with the onerous fines to match.

It's all part of the cover: Create a bigger bureaucracy...more and more government employees; while more and more private-sector workers are forced onto the unemployment rolls, dependent upon their monthly Obama check-- or else starve.

Obama... Markey...Waxman...Congress...the EPA -- they all know what the master plan is: it's all about the tipping point-- where 50% of the people become dependent on the federal government-- which assures enough votes to keep this autocracy in Washington to "serve" the people for at least 4 more fun-filled years.

So they'll keep levying more regulations, which will beget more destruction of the economy, with 15% (or greater) unemployment-- plus a hugely expanded government work force-- as increasing political power inexorably flows to Washington, and hapless citizens with lost jobs, lost pride, facing a bleak future.

But all the while, they'll be breathing sweet, clean, fresh air.

The grand economic anti-stimulus...our path toward "Europeanism"

"In a crisis, be aware of the danger, but recognize the opportunity"-- John F. Kennedy; from an excerpt taken from his book, "Profiles In Courage".

Wise words indeed from one of America's most beloved presidents. But today, wisdom is precisely what's lacking in Washington DC.

The reality of our economic crisis can be traced directly back to last year's spike in the cost of energy. The 4 dollar-a-gallon economic anti-stimulus triggered the mortgage crisis, and the subsequent onset of the worldwide recession-depression.

Currently, we seem to be locked into an ideological tug of war between fossil-fuel realty and renewable energy fantasy:

On one side there's the one basic necessity of ALL modern economic growth --cheap reliable energy--lined up against the fantasy of alternative fuels, which currently supply less than 4% of America’s energy usage. And we're overlooking one of the few benefits of the economic slowdown-- the welcome drop in petroleum prices.

As far as green energy goes, actual commercial demand is weak. Installation of wind and solar power is plummeting, due in part to the attractiveness of current cheap energy prices .

But instead of using this short term drop in prices to shore up our energy policy, the Obama administration has other ideas, which could leave the country short on oil in its second term. This could put both our economy and our military in the gravest of all circumstances-- not enough gasoline, and a strategic petroleum reserve bled dry!

So Instead of drilling for oil (or building nuclear plants) the Obama energy team of enviro-radicals has decided to stubbornly focus on renewable alternative energy, and all but deliberately ignore the basic structural problem of the nation's economy-- the mind-numbing amount of money we export to OPEC for foreign oil.

Talk about irrational ignorance.

Let’s play make believe. What if the U.S. had a prudent energy policy in place back in the 70's, and America now was energy independent. The result? Instead of the country being in dire economic straights, we'd be experiencing a prosperity boom.

Example: take the $750 billion we spent last year on imported oil.

What instead if that money could have been used to fund an economic expansion, the likes of which not seen since the early 60's? This was when President Kennedy cut taxes across the board, and initiated an investment tax credit for companies wishing to expand commercially. And back then, America was a creditor nation.

Think... 750 billion we wouldn't have to borrow...750 billion toward investment tax credits for corporations... 750 billion toward small business loans-- the true job engine of the U.S.

And we're just getting warmed up. 750 billion could go a long way. We could mail out stimulus checks totaling $2000 for every one in the country.

We could build a badly-needed high speed rail network.  We could fund the rebuilding of our infrastructure...rebuild the nation's manufacturing base ...or have the financial latitude to cut payroll taxes for everyone for a year.

The salient point here is that America, as a capital staved nation, could remedy itself from the primary source of its capital shortage-- the calamitous sums of money we send abroad for imported oil.

But the Obama energy czars--Stephen Chu and Carol Browner-- are heavily prejudiced against offshore drilling, and coal and nuclear power

So according to these environmental Nazis, what are supposed to do? Fill 'er up with a tankful of french fried, re-refined biodiesel? Or drive the currently non-existent green cars of the future? Or maybe we could revisit  the stone age era, and design a modern foot-powered Fred Flintstone yabba-dabba car. Just think of the mileage.

But in reality, petroleum now accounts for 96% of our transportation fuels. And without a concerted effort to increase domestic production of our own oil reserves, the U.S. is likely to face ever-rising future energy prices, ever more dependence on foreign sources; and ominously-- less reliable supplies in the future from hostile nations.

And we haven’t even considered the imbalance of our trade deficit.

But yet, the environmental Nazis argue that, "the age of oil is over ....we need to move to new forms of energy."

Bravo! Profound! But of what new forms of energy are they talking about? Oil and gasoline are here for the next 50-100 years. Currently there are 300 million internal combustion engines parked in the nation's  garages and driveways. And mass production of wind, solar, and biofuels literally remains a pipe dream.

It's true that more diverse sources of energy would be a good thing; but Obama and his green energy lieutenants conveniently say zilcho about the need to produce energy from existing sources, such as oil, coal, and nuclear.

In reality, renewable energy sources are years away--they are mere symbols of what should be done. But the enviro-radicals ignore the stark scientific and technological realities of what can be done.

Environmental symbolism shouldn’t drive public policy. Starting exploration in offshore coastal areas (and ANWAR) would be important steps toward influencing the world market; and it would keep petroleum prices low enough that it would provide our economy the chance to become robust in the long term.

And we must shun this idiopathic notion that wind/solar/biodiesel fuels will be available any time soon in sufficient amounts to replace fossil fuels. This reckless propaganda is both a danger to our economy, and our long term national security.

America must also shun environmental symbolism. And long into the foreseeable future, we'll need sufficient oil resources, and we'll continue to burn coal--it's as bluntly simple as that.

And here's a most welcome thought: by expanding America's domestic energy supply, we can turn the tables on our good buddies, OPEC and Venezuela. The recent dip in energy prices have hurt these regimes rather grievously.

But the U.S. remains the ONLY oil-producing nation on earth that's deemed its reserves illegal! According  to the Minerals Management Service, there are 14 billion barrels of petroleum in the restricted areas off our continental outer shelf. But the leftist environmental Nazis, in their zest to "save the planet", have used their treasonous influence in Congress to retain the mindless offshore drilling restrictions.

But it's for sure that the Chinese, India, Vietnam, Indonesia, and other nations will continue to explore offshore.

So why have we unilaterally chosen to disarm our oil exploration industry? Surely our current safeguards against environmental damage are as good as any in the world. And ironically, America was the technological innovator for deepwater offshore drilling.

And rival nations continue to use our technology to their advantage; while we sit back and worship polar bear sanctity, and mail huge monthly checks to OPEC for the same oil we could be pumping from our untapped energy resources.

So is it any wonder that the U.S. is a debtor, capital-starved nation, all but begging OPEC for a break? Compare our situation to that of other oil-aggressive nations. They’re not going forward with green energy, but expansive worldwide petroleum exploration.

And with all these government restrictions on our energy production, just what actually are we saving?

In a short period of time, we will eventually become another Europe; a nation of people sleeping in 60 degree bedrooms, and riding bicycles and roller-blading to work, unable to afford the coming specter of 6-dollar a gallon gas.

This is indeed frightening; and we should kid ourselves no longer...it’s soon to be a reality, unless something changes.

We have abundant energy sources all around us. But yet the politicians seek to deny the people the fruits of our great nation.

Perhaps Cicero, the great Roman orator and philosopher of the first century A.D., had it right when he wrote..."Governments are the enemy."

Barack Obama...President of the world?

Well lookee-lookee! Did the cat slip out of the bag? Carol Browner, Obama's proud choice for climate Czar, was recently "unearthed" as a member of the radical socialist (Stalinist) organization known as "Socialist International" (S.I.). And these people aren't exactly your basic local rotary club, but rather a leftist hardball group determined to put forth their radical environmental agenda upon the ENTIRE world.

S. I. calls for the, "redesign of the international rules on intellectual property." That's bureaucrat lingo for compelling an inventor to surrender property rights in order to "share" technologies with less-developed countries. So Ms. Browner--can we get any more socialist than compelling all U.S. inventors to "share" with less developed countries? What in the name of Thomas Edison are you planning?

Despite the controversy, president elect Obama, who chose the ex-60's radical Browner for this all-important cabinet position, staunchly supports the nomination, declaring that, "Climate change will be a priority of my administration". Supposedly, in the name of stimulating the economy, Obama plans to spend at least 500 billion dollars (which the government does not have) to convert the economy from carbon-based fuels, to greener alternatives.

The main focus of Socialist International centers on America, as the world's largest energy user, must shrink its economic output (energy usage) in conjunction with the smaller countries of the world increasing theirs. And the mechanism for this philosophy is based not upon climatological factors, but on economic ones-- a third world wealth transfer done incognito through the U.N.

An in-depth look at Socialist International would reveal that the organization is pushing hard for "global governance", and that America must shrink its economy, whose energy usage emits far too much Co2, in deference to smaller nations, which emit miniscule amounts of Co2.

But looking inward, this climate change guilt trip is really nothing more than an excuse to tax energy users and providers, and send the money to the U.N. to be distributed to third world dictators abroad. The goal? Increasing the political power of the Obama administration to all continents....i.e. Barack Obama-- president of the world!

Socialist International purports all the shop-worn liberal mantras: peak oil; co2 is a pollutant; we've reached the verge of irreversible climate devastation; and the U.S. is poisoning the atmosphere. And all this can only be "counteracted" by cap-n-trade. But why would S.I. wish to shrink the U.S. economy in favor of third world countries, such as Zimbabwe, or even Venezuela?

First, let's shed all the arguments about human-generated global warming. This brand new theory postulates a more plausible (and diabolical) presentation of the real underlying agenda of Socialist International, Carol Browner, Obama, and all the other enviro-marxists, They're all actually hiding within a "smokescreen", under the guise of saving the environment.

So why do they purport this Machiavellian masquerade? Lets officially brand it as, "The smoke screen theory".

The foundation of this theory rests upon the conservative right always thinking, "You liberals  ARE really stupid, believing that man can change the climate".  But herein lies the brilliance--who are the ones ACTUALLY being stupid?

One thing you cannot deny is that many liberals are decidedly brilliant, and politically astute about obtaining positions of power-- which begs the question..."What if these liberals actually realize that global warming via mankind is sheer scientific folly, but they're cleverly using it as a 'cover story' for obfuscating their real agenda, wealth transfer, and the worlwide consolidation of their political power.

Therefore, the smoke screen theory can be explained like this: These enviro-marxists use global warming as a way to hoodwink all the world from their true intent---cementing  cap and trade laws into permanent existence, which will produce giant sucking sounds of seemingly boundless money flowing to the government, via the environmental taxation of all the energy producers and energy users in the United States.

Its almost like a plot from the old "Batman" TV series of the mid 60's... "We environmentalists feign stupidity, and outsmart all those on the right who think we're the fools"...ha-ha!

The smokescreen theory is designed to turn the tables, and outfox the right..."Go ahead and argue with us, you foolish conservatives; we, the liberals, have the media on OUR side...we have the school children on OUR side; we have assumed the moral majority of an ignorant American electorate over to OUR side. And because of all this, we intend to keep it this way!"

"And beginning this January 21, we will get our climate change legislation railroaded  through congress, and tax the heavy industries, coal companies, and utilities out of existence; and then, put forth our green agenda. And you cannot stop us, because socialism is now mainstream".

So is the smoke screen theory sounding pretty clear now, or do we need some further explanation?

Socialist International, the people who feed us all this alarmist B.S., is treating Americans as if they are too foolish to know what the REAL political spectrum is about-- subversion of the capitalist system, and advancing the cause of socialism by whatever means necessary (i.e. artificial environmentalism to obtain political power over the entire world).

NEXT: let's introduce the future icing on the enviro-marxist cake--senate bill s1389; a bill to authorize a National Science Foundation Climate Change "Education Program". Look for it to be introduced first thing into the senate on Jan 22.

Of course any proposal with the phrase "education program"  sound innocuous enough, but what is even more interesting, Senate bill 1389A was authored by no less than His Highness, Barack Obam-0h.

And the nuts and bolts of bill 1389 requires the establishment of an education program to:
(1) broaden the understanding of the possible consequences of climate change,
2) apply the latest scientific discoveries to provide "learning opportunities"
for people (brainwashing);
(3) emphasize "actionable information" (more leftist brainwashing) to help people promote implementation of energy conservation, renewable energy, and greenhouse gas reduction.
(4) postulate potential solutions to the "problem."

So who's going to pay for all these directives to fight climate change? WE will. How? The Obama administration will tax the coal companies, power plants, steel companies, and all of heavy industry according to their usage of fossil fuels; they will be required to buy carbon credits, and trade with nations that produce no energy or emissions .

"No business will be allowed to emit any greenhouse gases for free,” Obama declared. “Businesses don’t own the sky, the public does, and if we want them to stop polluting it, we have to put a price on all pollution.”

Perfect! Why has a politician not thought of this before? Only someone as diabolical as Obama could have thought of charging for pollution, and be clever enough to sell it to America.

Obama's plan would require all credits to be purchased at auction, rather than allocated by industry -- a move ensuring that all "polluters" pay for every ton of emissions released. It's also a move that would massively increase the political power of his administration and go along way toward international wealth redistribution to the third world--a cause Obama and Browner fanatically (but esoterically) have supported for many years.

And by appointing Browner to a White House post, Obama has at least implicitly endorsed an utterly radical socialist agenda for his administration's environmental policy.

The incoming chief executive stands at the very foundation of the smoke screen theory--environmental policies aren't really about protecting or preserving the earth, but rather expanding government power and limiting individual freedom.

This enviro-radicalism of the Chosen One could push the nation so far to the left, we will never again recover the right path to sound energy policy, and get back to the economic expansion America has always enjoyed, because of the freedom we once had from government restriction.

And with the huge, predictable price increases of energy as a result of this enviro-radicalism, everytime we fill up our tanks, or mail in our electric bills, it'll be us--not business-- who'll really be paying the so-called price for pollution.

The smokescreen theory will go along way explaining how a scientifically challenged American electorate supports Obama's green-leaning rhetoric- which is nothing but a half veiled attempt to implement a clearly ideological, leftist agenda.

This is all part of an even more hidden agenda-- an undeclared war on capitalism; and its implementation will significantly alter the fabric of American society, as we have known it for decades.
